Here we are: Greenly joins the B Corp certified companies. At last, we can say that we are proud to take part in the movement !

Reminder: what is the B Corp label ?

Once upon a time, B Lab and B Corp…

For those who have no idea on what we are talking about, the B Corp label (for Benefit Corporation) is one of the most prestigious certifications regarding sustainable development.

The B Corp label is awarded by the NGO B Lab, which was founded in 2006 by three entrepreneurs (Bart Houlahan, Jay Coen Gilbert and Andrew Kassoy), with the aim of supporting the emergence of a new economic and societal model, more respectful of people and environment.

Today, the B Corp movement is present in 96 countries and groups more than 8,200 certified companies.

In France, more than 350 companies are B Corp certified (ESS, SCOP, TPE, SMEs, midcaps, CAC 40 and French subsidiaries of foreign groups).

To learn more about the history of the genesis of B Lab, you can have a look at the official website of B Corporation.

What is the purpose of B Corp (Benefit Corporation) certification ?

The purpose of the B Corp label is to evaluate the social and environmental performance of a company, without limiting themselves to its product or service.

Any organization wishing to obtain the label must submit to the BIA (“B Impact Assessment”), a self-assessment questionnaire that assesses the impact of their activities and business model on workers, on the broader community, on the environment, and on their customers.

However, the idea is not only to illustrate the ethical performance of a company. The B Corp label commits the structure to take into account their long-term impact on their stakeholders and on the environment, by integrating it into their own statutes.

Greenly and B Corp

Why join the B Corp community ?

Joining the B Corp community was crucial for us at Greenly. We are a company that never ceases to stop writing, singing, or shouting from the rooftops on our belief that the collective effort can make a real difference. We didn't want to stay on the sidelines of a movement as massive as B Corp – so we became a part of it.

In addition to showing how much we value our societal and environmental impact in our community, we wanted to integrate this community of committed organizations, regardless of their activity sector and turnover. Even more: to show our support and play our part in  the development of a sustainable economic and social model.

Our motto: the more we invest in creating an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy, the more likely we are to see it emerging.

If our governments have their contribution to make, businesses have theirs as well. And we take ours.

The results of Greenly’s BIA

Drum roll… And the B Impact Score Greenly obtained at the end of its BIA is… 95.3 ! As a guide, the median score for the companies that completed the assessment is 50.9.

Does that mean that we are perfect? Obviously not. And that is why we are already working to improve our performance.

How ? You will see it very soon. Stay tuned !
