When Ecologie Urbaine & Citoyenne contacted Greenly, their objectives were to find a simple and effective solution to run their first GHG assessment. Today, Ecologie Urbaine & Citoyenne have earned the first badge towards their Net Zero trajectory!
Ecologie Urbaine & Citoyenne is an agency created in 2008, specializing in the ecological transition of territories and cities. Our multidisciplinary team develops skills that allow us to meet the diverse needs associated with urban ecology and participation, such as:
"Building resilience and the ability to adapt to change will only happen through increased interaction and solidarity."
In order to reduce our GHG emissions, we needed to measure them first. We knew it was necessary to calculate our carbon footprint, which allows us to better structure our environmental policy and draw our action plan to reduce our emissions in the long term.
The measurement solution proposed by Greenly is simple and intuitive. In addition, their solution is well recognized by the market, and they have obtained the French Tech Green 2020 label.
Ecologie Urbaine's carbon footprint not only takes into account direct and energy-related emissions (Scope 1 & 2) but also indirect emissions caused by service providers and services used by the company (Scope 3). By adding up all the emissions, Ecologie Urbaine had a footprint of 19t CO2e in 2020, or 1.9t / employee, which is almost 10 times less than the sector average (12t / employee).
The defining and implementing of the action plan is underway. To achieve our goal of reducing our emissions by 5.6%, we intend to assign a manager to each major emission item. We have defined together with our employees the feasible and impactful actions of compensation and reduction, while respecting the United Nations 2021 Sustainable Development Goals. This action plan includes offsetting our emissions in a French project to support the transition of agricultural practices and reduction actions; improving our digital practices and extending the life of our computers, making our seminars vegetarian, offering glass tupperware to employees for meals at the office, offering training and quizzes to employees, offering an additional day of teleworking per week, etc.
We plan to conduct a new carbon assessment in 2021 to monitor the impact of the measures taken to reduce our emissions.
