mc2i, a digital transformation consulting firm, has committed to reducing its carbon emissions. To get the job done right, the firm called on Greenly's services and expertise to measure and monitor its carbon footprint, raise awareness among its employees and engage its service providers.
mc2i is an independent consulting firm that helps large private companies and public bodies in all sectors to innovate and seize the opportunities offered by digital technology.
With more than 1,000 employees, this company has managed to remain on a human scale, thanks to strong values and a corporate culture that favors conviviality, proximity and cross-functionality.
The firm offers an entrepreneurial approach to consulting that encourages and values initiative, sharing and the spirit of innovation. mc2i is made up of 50% women and 50% men, from a variety of backgrounds, who use their skills and talents to make digital transformation a human experience. The support offered by the firm is above all designed by people and for people, before being designed for companies. Environmental issues are therefore one of their priorities.
"It is not man who is master of our planet, but it is the earth that directs and decides each day of our existence." Philippe Chavanis
mc2i's mission is to make the digital transformation a positive revolution, which is why the collective control of our environmental footprint is one of our commitments.
"Because we can act individually and collectively to limit the environmental impacts of our activity, mc2i has relied on Greenly's expertise to measure its emissions. We are taking action within the firm and are actively committed to the climate."
The digital transformation consulting firm mc2i called on the services of Greenly to measure and monitor its carbon footprint. Its objective was to be able to implement effective solutions and thus reduce its environmental footprint.
In this context, Greenly approached more than 900 employees in order to better understand their practices and activities. Thanks to the answers obtained, we were able to construct a complete carbon footprint for the firm.
This has enabled us to better structure our environmental policy and to draw up our action plan to reduce our emissions in the long term.
The measurement solution proposed by Greenly is simple and intuitive. The automated carbon footprint approach appealed to mc2i because it responded precisely to the problems encountered internally, but also by their clients. Carrying out a carbon footprint analysis can be energy consuming and tedious, as the elements required to feed it are scattered throughout the organisation. The fully automated solution, based on accounting elements, provides a rational and precise view of the company's carbon footprint, while enabling it to manage and reduce its emissions. In addition, this solution is recognized by the market and has been awarded the French Tech Green 2020 label.
The regulations currently require companies of a certain size to carry out a carbon assessment including scope 1 and 2 only, every 5 years. However, given their core business and steady growth, they felt it necessary to carry out a full carbon assessment (including the impact of digital uses and materials, services, etc.). They therefore took into account direct and energy-related emissions (Scope 1 & 2) as well as indirect emissions caused by service providers and services used by the company (Scope 3).
The carbon footprint of mc2i has therefore been estimated at 938t CO2e in 2020, or 0.9t CO2e per employee. This is four times less than the average company in this sector.
Carrying out a carbon assessment has enabled mc2i to better structure their environmental policy. Greenly has identified the levers to be used to reduce their emissions. The action plan for 2022 has already been drawn up.
The purchasing department, the digital department and the training department were included in our discussions in order to implement a 360° strategy to reduce our carbon footprint. Reducing the footprint is a collective process. In 2022, we want to involve our employees more, so that everyone is aware of the process of reducing emissions.
We have sought out to define the possible and impactful reduction actions, while respecting the development and growth objectives that have been defined. The action plan for 2022 has already been drawn up. Together with the departments concerned, we have endeavored to take effective action,
Reducing the firm's footprint is a collective effort. In 2022, we want to further engage our staff so that the process of reducing emissions is known to all.
